One of the things that have caught my eye recently is the growing movement towards Green Living. Eco-bags have become in fashion and environment-friendly products (from personal care to home cleaning) are much loved by an increasing number of consumers.
Even royalty is into the sustainable, eco- friendly movement. One particular blue-blood is Charlotte Casiraghi; the daughter of Princess Caroline of Hanover and the granddaughter of the famous and glamorous couple Prince Rainier III of Monaco and Hollywood legend Princess Grace Kelly.
The fashion-savvy Charlotte is aware that the fashion industry is in need of a change- to be more pro-environment. She does this through her publication named EVER Manifesto. The first issue, entitled Everlution, was released last October 2009.
The first edition dwells into how consumers react towards fashion sustainability. In one of the articles, the authors state that ‘We are not unrealistic in what we’re asking of fashion. We understand there is no such thing as a completely “green” fashion company…What we are asking is that the companies we know, the labels we love and the people we respect try to become “greener”. And in doing so, “green” will become desirable.‘
Contributors for Everlution included Burak Cakmak, Derek Blasberg, Duro Olowu and Laura Lazzaroni. Charlotte also interviewed Vogue Italia’s Franca Sozzani in Editing Ethically.
Charlotte was not alone in coming up with this revolutionary magazine. Her co-founders include Alexia Niedzielski and Elizabeth von Guttman. They announced their project last September 2009 at the Città dell’arte Fashion: Bio Ethical Sustainable Trend press conference.
EVER Manifesto is not regularly published; only when the team believes there is a topic or cause that they strongly need to write about. The latest, and second, EVER Manifesto issue is entitled EVER Bamboo. It was released last October 2011 in the City of Lights.
Together with Gucci, a contest among fashion students was held, wherein they had “to create a sustainable bag, using the iconic Gucci Bamboo”.
A PDF file of both EVER Manifesto issues can be downloaded for free in their website.
Let us contribute in making fashion sustainable!
