I happily spent 2 hours of uninterrupted reading when I finally received a signed copy of Fairy Tale Fail. Another item ticked off my bucket list: To own a signed copy of a book.

The 144-page novella is the creation of Filipino writer Mina V. Esguerra. This isn’t her only book though. She has several under her belt such as Love Your Frenemies, Interim Goddess of Love, No Strings Attached and My Imaginary Ex. She catapulted to the literary scene when her self-published novellas became favorites in online bookstores such as Amazon. Yes, she started out as an indie publisher which is quite inspiring for the countless aspiring writers out there. Her books were then published by Summit Books.

Fairy Tale Fail made me giddy and had a plot that echoes a “love yourself first” theme. If you are in a relationship wherein the other person finds you to not be in “the same level” as he or she is, let him or her go! A person who truly loves you should complement you, not complete you.

The book really encouraged me to support works written by Filipinos. There is a growing market of Pinoy writers and I think a little more PR is needed for more people to patronize them.

If you wish to grab a signed copy as well, you may get in touch with the author herself through minavesguerra [at] gmail [dot] com or @minavesguerra on Twitter.
