The term “bucket list” has been popular recently. This seems to be the product of the “live life to the fullest” movement. It really is not a new movement, Mark Twain already encouraged us with his famous quote:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Having a bucket list surely helps to keep track of the things that one wishes to fulfill in one’s lifetime. The demands of everyday life can take its toll and lead us to forget about the personal goals we have which will make us truly happy.

Creating your own bucket list can be done old school or online, whichever you are comfortable with.

* Old school- You could make use of your diary, journal, scrapbook, old notebooks, notepads, post-its, to-do list sheets, or anything that you could think of.

* Online- For the tech-savvy, there are a number of websites that enables you to create bucket lists. It is quite convenient and you will save paper. The bucket list which I currently discovered is Unbucket. It was featured in Hello Giggle’s website by Michelle Escobar.

Hello Giggles Unbucket List

You could log-in using your Facebook account and create bucket lists depending on the subject. It may be a list of travel destinations that you wish to visit, the books you wish to read, and so much more. You could even share these lists to the public or to a chosen group of individuals.

Here are some of the things I have recently Unbucketed:

1. Go Bowling– It has been quite awhile since I played bowling but a few days ago, I was able to engage in the sport at an SM Supermall Bowling Center. A single game is P90 (around $2.50) per person. If you will be renting their shoes, it will cost an additional P30 (less than $1). Tip: Be sure you are wearing a pair of socks and comfortable clothing. Bowling balls are color-coded according to weight. I found the orange ball (known as no.7) to be the perfect fit. The violet ( No. 12) is a bit heavy for starters.

2. Travel By Myself– Traveling alone may seem scary and lonely at first but one will be able to gain a sense of independence and self- trust. Tip: Do plan out the places you want to visit. Set a budget and some extra cash in case of emergency. Travel light. Be at the airport early. Keep in touch with loved ones. Be aware of your belongings. Have a camera handy. Most importantly, pray.

3. Watch A Movie in A Cinema House (after a long period of time)– For a number of months now, a busy schedule has prevented me from watching a film inside a movie house. Thankfully, I was able to watch Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters. The movie has a unique twist to the Hansel and Gretel fairytale that we all know. It is a bit bloody (so you might consider rethinking about bringing children) with a few funny scenes thrown in between. The plot was a bit predictable but nonetheless, it was entertaining. The movie starred Jeremy Renner (The Bourne Legacy), Gemma Arterton (Prince of Persia and Clash of the Titans) and Famke Janssen (Jean Grey in the X-Men movies).

4. Savor Thai/ Vietnamese Cuisine– When my friend recommended Lemon Grass (An Asian Fusion Restaurant), which is located at the ground floor of The Terraces, Ayala Center, Cebu, it was as if she read my mind. I have been curious about Thai-Vietnamese foods.

Lemon Grass is under the management of Laguna Cafe

Their bestsellers include Pad Thai– a noodle dish that is topped with bamboo sprouts and mixed with chicken and tofu bits. This dish can be served spicy or not. Another dish that we ordered was Taoho Sawaei– tofu cubes are fried and mixed with a mouthwatering lemongrass sauce.

So far, these are some of the things that I have currently Unbucketed. It is quite exciting to be able to cross out the things in your list. It seems to mean you have embarked on an adventure and have enriched your life experiences.

How about you, what have you Unbucketed in your Bucket List?
